What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make sites work, to remember your preferences, and to help owners understand how their site is used. Similar technologies such as pixels and local storage do much the same job, and where we say "cookies" below we mean all of them.

How we use cookies

We keep our use of cookies light. We use them to:

  • keep the website working and secure,
  • remember basic preferences, such as your light or dark theme choice,
  • understand how the site performs and how visitors use it, so we can improve it.

The types we use

Essential cookies. Needed for the site to function and to keep it secure. The site cannot work properly without these, so they do not require consent.

Preference cookies. Remember choices you make, such as your theme, so the site behaves the way you left it. We store the theme setting in your browser rather than on our servers.

Analytics cookies. Help us understand which pages are visited and how the site performs, in aggregate. We use this only to improve the site, not to identify you.

Managing cookies

You are in control. Most browsers let you see what cookies are set, block them, or delete them. Here are the guides for the main browsers:

If you block or delete cookies, some parts of the site may not work as well.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our site and tools change. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page.
