Designed. Built. Selling. did.

Shopify web design that builds a store that sells, not a shopfront that sits there.

Shopify web design is what we do when a business needs a store that sells, not a template with a logo swapped in.

Shopify web design case studies

Ace Consulting Group is a consulting firm rather than a store, but the starting point was the one every store owner recognises: a site that looked fine and produced nothing.

The problem

A store that gets visitors and no orders.

Baskets that stay empty

You launched the store months ago. Traffic trickles in, baskets stay empty, and nobody can tell you why.

An app for every fix

Every fix meant another app, and every app made the store slower. Now the homepage takes an age on a phone.

Not the place to buy

Your products are good. The store just does not look like the place to buy them.

The solution

We design custom Shopify themes, write Liquid where it earns its place, configure checkout, and keep the app stack lean so the store stays fast.

Every build ships mobile-first, passes Core Web Vitals, and carries conversion tracking from day one, so you see the orders and enquiries the store produces rather than guess.

Fit

Is this for you?

This is for you if

  • You run a retail brand, a hospitality or restaurant business selling vouchers and merchandise, a trade adding a product line, or a professional services firm selling productised offers.
  • Your store gets traffic that does not buy, or has slowed under app bloat.
  • You want a store that competes, with prices published up front and the numbers visible.

It is not for you if

  • A stock Shopify theme genuinely covers what your store needs to do.
  • Shopify is the wrong platform for what you sell.
  • You want a simple non-store site, which starts from $1,999 with the Starter Web Kit.

You own the store, the theme and the data, and the care plan is optional, never a lock-in. If a stock theme covers your needs, we will tell you that on a call.

The build

Shopify web design, end to end

Shopify is one of the platforms we build on within our wider website design work, and the store gets the same discipline as any site we ship: designed to convert, built to be found. Here is what a build includes.

Custom Shopify theme design

Online Store 2.0

A theme designed around your products and your brand, using Online Store 2.0 sections, so the store does not look like a thousand others.

Liquid development

Not another app

Custom sections and functionality written in Liquid by our web development team, so you are not installing an app for every small thing.

Checkout configured properly

The smoothest last step

Payments, shipping, taxes and customer accounts set up in Shopify checkout, so the last step of the sale is the smoothest one.

A lean app stack

Speed you keep

We pick the few apps that earn their place and cut the rest, because every app you do not install is speed you keep.

Product and collection pages built to rank

Built to be found

Structure, on-page SEO and copy that give your products a chance of being found when buyers search.

Landing pages for campaigns

Ads, email, seasonal

Dedicated landing pages for your ads, email and seasonal pushes, so paid traffic lands on a page built to convert it.

Fast, mobile-first build

Core Web Vitals

The store is designed for the phone first and tuned to pass Core Web Vitals, because that is where your customers are shopping.

Conversion tracking wired in

GA4 from day one

GA4 and Shopify analytics set up from day one, so you can see orders, enquiries and where each one came from.

Outcomes

What you get out of it

A store that sells, with orders and enquiries you can count.

Product pages that show up when your buyers search.

A store fast enough that mobile shoppers stay to the end of checkout.

A store you own and understand, with the numbers to prove it is working.

Process

How we work

  1. 01

    Discover

We map who the store is for, how your customers shop, the catalogue structure, and the search terms your products can win.

    Outcome

You sign off a store plan and sitemap before we design.

  2. 02

    Design

We design the theme around your products and brand, and you see the key templates, home, collection, product, before anything is built.

    Outcome

You approve the design before we build.

  3. 03

    Build

We build the theme, write the Liquid, configure checkout and the app stack, migrate the catalogue, and wire in conversion tracking, then test the lot on real phones.

    Outcome

A finished store, reviewed and ready.

  4. 04

    Launch and report

We launch, monitor, and send you the numbers each month: traffic, orders, enquiries and rankings, so you can see what the store produces.

    Outcome

A live store and a monthly view of what it brings in.

The difference

The usual way vs the did way

Without did.

  • A template with your logo on it
  • An app for every problem
  • Design first, speed later
  • Traffic reports and screenshots
  • Launched and left
  • Quote on request

With did.

  • A theme designed around your products
  • Liquid where an app is not needed
  • Core Web Vitals from the first build
  • Orders and enquiries, counted
  • Launched, measured and improved
  • Prices published up front
The platform

Why Shopify web design.

Most Shopify stores fail quietly. The platform works, the products are real, but the store is slow, looks interchangeable, and never shows up when buyers search.

Being findable is not a nice-to-have. A store nobody finds is a store nobody buys from, which is why every build here ships with product and collection pages structured to rank and conversion tracking wired in from day one.

We build Shopify stores for retail brands, hospitality and restaurant businesses selling vouchers and merchandise, trades adding a product line, and professional services firms selling productised offers. Different catalogues, same job: a store that sells, and the numbers to prove it.

Your products deserve a store that sells them as well as you do in person.

Packages

Shopify web design packages and pricing

We price Shopify builds as a fixed project, so you know the number before we start. Store builds start at Business Web Pro, because a store that has to sell needs bespoke design work, not a framework refresh. Add an optional Care Plan to any tier, priced to your hosting and needs. You own the store outright either way, with no lock-in.

FAQ

Questions.

How much does Shopify web design cost?

Shopify web design costs $4,999 as a fixed project with us, and from $9,999 when the store needs SEO architecture built in. Business Web Pro at $4,999 covers a bespoke Figma storefront you sign off before build, the theme and sections, checkout configured, a lean app stack and conversion tracking. Growth Site, from $9,999, adds a keyword-mapped store architecture built from live search demand, with AI-search readiness and schema throughout. Across the wider market, prices run from a few hundred dollars for a template setup to well past five figures for enterprise builds, which is why so much pricing is quote-on-request. Every build here is a fixed project with the number published up front, so you know the cost before any work starts. Simple non-store sites start from $1,999 with the Starter Web Kit.

Do I need a web designer for Shopify?

Not always, and it depends on what the store needs to do. Shopify's themes are good enough that a simple store can launch without a designer. A designer earns their fee when the store has to compete: when a template lookalike will not carry your brand, when product pages need to rank in search, when the store is slow because apps have piled up, or when traffic arrives and does not buy. That work involves theme design, Liquid, checkout configuration and tracking, which is a different job from picking a template. If a stock theme genuinely covers your needs, we will tell you that on a call.

What is the difference between a Shopify theme and a custom design?

A theme is a pre-built design you install and adjust; a custom design is built around your products, your brand and your buyers. Themes are faster and cheaper, and thousands of stores share them, so differentiation is limited to your logo and photography. A custom design starts with how your customers shop, then shapes the layout, sections and Liquid code around that, which usually means fewer apps, faster pages and product pages structured to rank. Many of our builds sit in between: a strong theme as the base, customised heavily where it affects speed and conversion, so you get most of the benefit without the full custom price.

Can you redesign an existing Shopify store?

Yes, redesigns of existing Shopify stores are a large part of what we do, and often the highest-return work. If the store looks like every other template, loads slowly because of app bloat, or gets traffic that does not convert, a redesign fixes the foundations without moving platforms. Products, orders and customer accounts stay where they are; we rebuild the theme, cut the apps that are not earning their keep, restructure product and collection pages for search, and wire in conversion tracking so the numbers are visible. It is also the moment to sort Core Web Vitals properly, so the new store is fast on the phones your customers actually use.

How long does a Shopify website take to design and build?

Most Shopify builds take from four to eight weeks. A focused store on a customised theme can be quicker; a custom theme with bespoke Liquid sections, a large catalogue and a full content rewrite takes longer. The parts that add time are usually product content and photography rather than the build itself, which is why we agree scope and gather everything up front. You approve the design before we build and the store before it goes live, so the timeline does not drift. If you have a hard launch date, a seasonal peak or a campaign, we plan the build backwards from that date and say early whether it is realistic.
